At the time Gizmo5 had some integration with GV such that you could use a SIP adapter/software to make calls to and from your GV account. Once Google shut down Gizmo5, they kept some of the SIP servers up under sip.voice.google.com however I think they killed it soon after to anyone working outside googleplex.
